Torchy's Tacos 

After Mike Rypka bought a food trailer and a red Vespa, Torchy's Tacos was born. He filled the first menu with experiments, and soon his unique offerings were an Austin favorite. Today, the restaurant has locations across the state, each boasting its own theme. In the kitchen, the chefs are always innovating. They make everything from scratch, and responsibly source every ingredient down to the jalapenos. Tacos include green chile pork, fried avocado, and Baja shrimp. 

Tacos A Go Go

Serving the best tacos in Houston, Tacos A Go Go opened in 2006 next to the Continental Club. While it had no parking, owner Sharon Hayes believed that the old-school Mexican kitsch and made-from-scratch food would draw a crowd. She was right. The vibrant setting features brightly colored walls, unique works of art, and lighting made from beer bottles. The chefs prepare the Mexican street tacos from the finest, freshest ingredients. Choices include picadillo, pastor, and barbacoa (called one of the tacos you must eat before you die by Texas Monthly). 

Blanco Tacos & Tequila 

Offering a fresh twist on Mexican cuisine, Blanco Tacos & Tequila is where the vibe is as bold as the flavors. Every day brings a fiesta, and the friendly staff knows everyone by name. The chefs prepare the tacos to order and are always creating something new to bring visitors back time and again. Choices include chicken pastor, carne asada, crispy fried shrimp. They pair well with the Spanish quinoa rice and smashed watermelon margaritas.
